Yuvraj Singh invests in food brand Ketofy’s parent company Wellversed Health

MUMBAI: Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh has invested an undisclosed sum in Wellversed Health, a customised nutrition company that operates online healthy food brand Ketofy.

The pre-series A investment from Singh’s YWC Ventures values the two-and-a-half-year-old startup at Rs 100 crore, said Wellversed Health’s cofounder Aanan Khurma.

The company plans to use the money primarily to scale its reach of nutrition and food products. Some of the capital will also be used to strengthen the company’s supply chain and to get more people enrolled in its health transformation plans.

“I want to invest in companies in the health tech, sports tech, edutech and agritech sectors,” Singh told ET. “Wellversed was a natural choice when I came to know their vision. They have products not just for athletes but also for all fitness seekers.”

As per the terms of the deal, Singh will be the company’s brand ambassador and will also get involved in planning new products and innovation.

Earlier, Singh had made investments in diagnostic labs aggregator Healthians, AR/VR based tech startup HoloSuit and JetSetGo, a Delhi-based marketplace for private jets and helicopters.

Wellversed was started by Khurma, Ripunjay Chachan and Aditya Seth in March 2018. While both Khurma and Chachan are alumni of the Stanford Biodesign, Seth comes with a strong background in food production.

The three acquired Ketofy for an undisclosed amount in October 2018.

So far, the company has raised money from a clutch of angle and non-banking financial investors, including Tejinderpal Miglani, cofounder of Indiabulls, Alok Mittal, cofounder of non-banking financial company Indifi Technologies, and Rohit Chanana, founder of Sarcha Advisors.

“We have planned subsequent rounds and will go for Series A round, worth $5-6 million, in a few months,” Khurma told ET.

He added, “As of now, we are shipping around 50,000 SKUs per month. During the lockdown, we suffered due to the supply chain issues, but now we have overcome it and already doubled the business from pre-Covid times. In the next 18-24 months, we are targeting a 10X growth.”

Wellversed’s products are available across 25 online channels including their own website, Amazon, LBB, Big Basket, 1MG, Healthkart, Qtrove, Milk Basket and others. So far the company claims to have facilitated more than 12,000 health transformation plans for weight loss, skin care, hair care and sexual health.
