WhatsApp working on ‘advanced search’ feature which will change everything

You’re probably popular, glamorous and in possession of a WhatsApp account stuffed with exciting messages.

So it may please you to hear that in a matter of weeks or months, the Facebook-owned app will roll out a feature that lets you quickly scoot through an enviably bulging inbox to find gifs, pictures or even links.

It’s called ‘Advanced Search’ and will bring some of the power you associate with desktop software to WhatsApp, letting you search for particular types of content quickly and effectively.

You’ll also be able to press, for instance, the ‘photo’ button to only be shown all messages containing an image.

When the Advanced Search feature is rolled out, you’ll be able to look for photos, gifs, documents, videos, audio and links.

It’s currently available in a beta version of the software which has been tested by the website WABetaInfo.

If will be available for Apple iOS first and should come to Android later in the year.

WhatsApp recently celebrated its 10th birthday.

The messaging app was incorporated on February 24 2009 and bought by Facebook in February 2014 for roughly $19.3 billion.
