Van de Beek suffers embarrassing toilet mishap during Chelsea vs Man Utd

Donny van de Beek suffered an embarrassing moment as he went to the toilet during Manchester United ’s goalless draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

The midfielder has struggled for game time since joining United from Ajax last summer and was left on the bench by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils, who sit second in the Premier League, were held to a point by fifth-placed Chelsea, with the game seeing few clear-cut attacking opportunities.

Solskjaer selected van de Beek as a substitute for the 23rd time in the Premier League this season, with the Dutchman failing to come on.

Van de Beek has suffered a torrid time at United, with boss Solskjaer struggling to find a place in his side for the midfielder, as Bruno Fernandes occupies his traditional number 10 role.

But the dull nature of the match, which saw just 10 shots on target between both Chelsea and United appeared to also wear on van de Beek.

About 35 minutes into the second-half, van de Beek was spotted heading for a trip to the toilet.

The United substitute though appeared to misread the door signs and headed into the ladies’ toilet instead of the men’s.

“Donny Van De Beek – has just nipped for a toilet break….in the ladies’ toilets,” Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law wrote on Twitter.

Law did though appear to save face for van de Beek in a later tweet by stating that the toilet the Dutchman went into seemed to be the closest to the United bench.

“Fortunately, it seems they were empty and they just happened to be the closest toilets to where the Man U subs and staff are sitting,” Law wrote.

The draw means United are now 12 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City, while Chelsea are now just one point off the Champions League places.
