We have already heard about the rumours and speculations of Apple bringing refreshed models of iMac later this year. These are supposed to have more power and a new design that will be similar to Pro Display XDR monitor. However, a credible tipster has now re-confirmed some speculations about the upcoming Mac device. As per l0vetodream (via Macrumors), states that the new iMac will be arriving sometime this year and will feature a larger display than the current largest offering by Apple in the iMac lineup.
In case you aren’t aware, Apple currently has a 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac in the series. And a larger display might mean something around 30-inch or possible more. The tipster adds that the new model will replace the current 27-inch version. Since the upcoming iMac is said to have a similar design as XDR Pro Display, it could also have the same screen size, which is 32-inch.
There is also a rumour that the new iMacs will run on Apple’s own silicon (possibly M1X) instead of Intel. The iPhone maker is already said to be internally testing chips with as many as 16 high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. In addition, macOS Big Sur 11.3 beta also seems to have revealed two new iMac designations – “iMac21,1” and “iMac21,2,” which are clearly new since both don’t match the existing iMac models.
Tipster Jon Prosser, adding to the list of rumours and speculations, have previously mentioned that the iMacs might come in five different colours too.
