Universal Credit: Cold Weather Payment Scheme has begun – how to check if you’re due £25

With heating to pay for, cold snaps can come at a significant cost for some, and making ends meet can seem difficult.

In order to help ease the expense, some people are able to get additional financial support in the winter time.

The Cold Weather Payment, for instance, is a scheme which runs from November 1 until March 31 each year.

It is run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and offers people on certain benefits £25 for each period of unseasonably cold weather.
