Two data breaches at Basingstoke hospital trust investigated – Basingstoke Gazette

ALMOST 200 personal data breaches were reported to the trust which runs Basingstoke hospital during a six-month period.

Figures reported by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) show that between April 1, 2021, and September 30, 2021, 194 personal data breaches were reported.

Of these, two were referred to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which investigates data breaches.

One of the breaches referred to the ICO has since been closed. The trust reported that no enforcement action was taken, but that the ICO instead provided recommendations which have been implemented.

The ICO also received a complaint alleging that HHFT had not complied with data protection legislation.

ICO reviewed the allegation and found the trust had “more work to do in answering the complaint”.

A HHFT report said: “The trust has since carried out the additional work required and closed the complaint.”

The trust has been asked for a comment.
