Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd's Kane swap plan, Salah to Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal updates

Transfer news: Who could be on the move this summer?

Express Sport brings you all the latest transfer news as the summer window creeps ever closer. Manchester United are on the hunt for a new striker and right winger while Chelsea are also set to back Thomas Tuchel. Liverpool and Arsenal are facing a fight to finish in the European places which will impact how they can act in the new window.

Arsenal contemplating Xhaka swap deal

Arsenal are reportedly considering using Granit Xhaka as a makeweight in a swap deal for Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria.

Zakaria is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract with Gladbach and could become available this summer.

According to 90min, the 24-year-old midfielder, who has made 30 appearances this season, has been on Arsenal’s radar for over two years and could come at a reasonable price.

Xhaka spent four years at the German club between 2012 and 2016 and the Gunners are therefore weighing up whether to offer his services as part of an ambitious swap this summer.

Foxes winning race for in-demand midfielder

Leicester City have emerged as favourites to sign Lille’s Boubakary Soumare amid plenty of competitors for his signature.

The 22-year-old central midfielder has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs this season, helping Lille sit three points clear of Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1.

A scout from Brendan Rodgers’ side was at Lille’s 3-0 win over Lens on Friday night, but he wasn’t alone. The Foxes’ man was joined by those working on behalf of Everton, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Lyon, PSG, Marseille, Nice, Rennes, Torino and Angers.

However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leicester are already a step ahead, having already agreed a deal for Soumare which will cost less than £25million (€30m).

Arsenal summer clear out

Arsenal director Edu is preparing to sell six players this summer in order to supplement the club’s existing transfer budget with an extra £60million, according to reports.

A number of potential targets have been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, including Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma, Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi and Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes.

The report claims that Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Matteo Guendouzi have all been earmarked as potential money-makers.

A number of youth players are also expected to leave Arsenal this summer, with numbers set to be ‘dramatically reduced’ in time for the new campaign.

Man Utd change Jadon Sancho stance

Manchester United no longer hold Jadon Sancho as their No 1 transfer target this summer, according to the MEN.

United did have a gaping hole on the right flank but young striker Mason Greenwood has filled the void over the past year.

The Red Devils are confident that Greenwood, who scored the winner against Aston Villa over the weekend, can make the position his own.

That means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can invest this summer’s budget elsewhere.

Arsenal to sign ‘the next Jordan Henderson’

Kevin Campbell thinks his former club Arsenal should move to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, who he has compared to Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.

“Anybody who can come into that midfield and add some bite is welcome,” Campbell said.

“Berge is a good player but he is a great worker. For me, if he is willing to give 100 per cent for that shirt I would take him. The names on the back of the shirt against Villarreal were not enough.

“Arteta needs players that are going to work. Players who are going to graft for the team.

“He may be the type of player who goes unsung but in the scheme of things every team needs players like that.

“Look at Liverpool, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum do not get enough credit for the work they do. But when they are not there you notice it.

“Berge could be like Henderson, and be that type of player for Arsenal.”

Newcastle want Chelsea ace

Newcastle are among the clubs looking at Chelsea’s young defender Marc Guehi, according to the Athletic.

The Blues have tied the 20-year-old down for a further 12 months after he progressed through the youth ranks.

He made his debut in 2019 in an EFL Cup clash with Grimsby.

Guehi’s impressive performances on loan at Championship side Swansea this year have caught Newcastle’s eye.

Man Utd receive Jadon Sancho blow

Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United thought they were the frontrunners for the England international’s signature because their rivals are instead focusing on Erling Haaland.

But the Telegraph claim Bayern are now keen to snap up the 21-year-old as they continue to cherry pick the best talent from the Bundesliga.

United need a right winger as they have been relying on Mason Greenwood to fill the void on that flank.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be in for a stern battle if Bayern do make their move.

West Ham want Tammy Abraham loan

West Ham manager David Moyes will try to sign Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham on loan after being priced out of a permanent move, according to the Athletic.

Chelsea have slapped a £40million price tag on their third choice striker, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

“It would rule us out completely,” Moyes said of the valuation. “We will be ruled out. So if that’s the figure and that’s what’s being said, we are ruled out.

“We don’t have that money, we don’t have that to buy a striker at that price, no.

“I don’t think we will be making a purchase of that for any one player. I’d be surprised if we were.”

Juventus shut down Chelsea approach

Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia reportedly had a swift response from Juventus when making an enquiry about a possible transfer.

According to Tuttosport, the Blues reached out to Juventus to sound out a possible move for Matthijs de Ligt.

But the report also claims the Serie A giants responded quickly with a resounding rejection.

Barcelona reportedly made an enquiry as well, but were given the same response.

Man Utd’s Harry Kane swap plan

Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer some of their stars in a swap deal for Harry Kane this summer.

Tottenham value their striker at around £175million but the Red Devils are hoping to drive down the price.

United are desperate for a new No 9 as Edinson Cavani is out of contract at the end of the season and may leave the Premier League.

Anthony Martial has stuggled for form this season and Mason Greenwood has often been used to fill the void on the right flank.

Kane has persistantly admitted that wants to challenge for the biggest trophies but those dreams may only be accomplished if he departs north London.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah has been linked with a stunning return to Chelsea as Liverpool continue to struggle in the Premier League.

The defending champions risk missing out on the European spots which could see some of their leading figures depart Anfield.

Salah has won everything possible since joining the Reds but his future is constantly surrounded in speculation.

Real Madrid a keen admirers of the Egyptian forward and Chelsea apparently entered the frame last week.

However, the Athletic claim Liverpool bosses are adament that they will not sell the attacker to a direct rival.

Houssem Aouar’s Arsenal stance

Arsenal have reportedly gained a boost in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

The Gunners spent last summer chasing the 22-year-old but instead opted to but Thomas Partey for £45million – the same price Lyon were quoting for Aouar.

But when the season got underway there was a clear lack of creativity at Arsenal so they brought in Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on loan in January.

The Norwegian is expected to return to the Bernabeu this summer meaning Mikel Arteta will need to find another playmaker.

And they could return for Aouar, who L’Equipe say could be on the move after failing to nail down a starting spot at Lyon.
