Tottenham to make ‘major changes’ under Antonio Conte with Daniel Levy nearing appointment

Tottenham will make ‘major changes’ when Antonio Conte takes over at the club, according to reports. The Italian recently left his post at Inter Milan, despite steering them to the Serie A title. And he’s now poised to succeed Jose Mourinho, who was ruthlessly sacked by Daniel Levy in April.

Tottenham sacked Mourinho in April just days before their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.

And while they’ve tried to bring Mauricio Pochettino back in the time since, that won’t be happening now.

Paris Saint-Germain have refused to let Pochettino go, despite the Argentine’s strong desire to return to north London.

The Ligue 1 giants have also insisted the 49-year-old is committed to their project at the Parc des Princes and, what’s more, hasn’t asked to leave.

So, with that the case, Tottenham have put their foot on the accelerator when it comes to bringing Conte in.

The Italian recently won the Scudetto with Inter Milan, while he’s previously achieved great success at Chelsea and Juventus.

Kane has grown tired at Spurs’ failure to win the biggest trophies on offer, losing finals in the Carabao Cup and Champions League throughout his time in the capital.

And he won’t be short on suitors.

Manchester City are frontrunners for Kane, especially in the wake of their Champions League final defeat to Chelsea on Saturday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side have lost Sergio Aguero, with the Argentina international heading to Barcelona to join Lionel Messi on a free transfer.

And Kane would be the perfect replacement.

Manchester United are also loitering, though Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho appears to be their priority at the current moment in time.

And Chelsea could yet go in for Kane, too, especially in the wake of Romelu Lukaku’s admission he’d be staying at Inter Milan despite interest from his old side.

Former Rangers boss Alex McLeish recently opened up on Conte, expressing a belief he’d be the perfect fit for Tottenham because of his ‘beautiful coaching’.

“Yeah. He’s got some record. It’s fantastic,” he said.

“When you think of him coming to Chelsea and the Premier League, playing his trademark three at the back.

“He coaches it beautifully, so much so Chelsea go on to have a fantastic season and win the league.

“He’s done it again at Inter Milan when they’ve not won the league for a long time. He’s definitely hot property right now with those two great achievements.

“I know Jose’s done similar but that was 10, 12 years ago.

“Conte, he must have something.

“The system of the three at the back doesn’t look as exciting as a 4-3-3 but it is so effective when you get it right.”
