Theresa May heads to face MPs for the final time as her time in office comes to an end

THERESA May today headed to face down the MPs who destroyed her career for the final time before quitting.

The Prime Minister will step down this afternoon and hand over to the new Tory leader Boris Johnson.

Her final task in office is to take Prime Minister’s Questions in the Commons – to spare BoJo from having to do it.

She is likely to defend her legacy as PM despite seeing her Government collapse in flames.

Mrs May will then visit Buckingham Palace to hand her resignation to the Queen.

Mr Johnson will formally take over as Prime Minister shortly afterwards.
