Using data to look at the domestic searches, compared to last year, Devon’s Torquay has grown the most in popularity.

According to TripAdvisor, one of the most popular things to do in Devon is a gin making experience at the Gin Nest, although the Devonshire beaches are also popular.

Torquay is closely followed by Lake District’s Windermere and York in Yorkshire.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Cornwall’s Newquay made the list, with the coastal destination warning of holidays selling out and some families even put on waiting lists for a Cornish summer holiday this year.

Bath in Somerset remains popular, also boosted by the popularity of Netflix series Bridgerton which was filmed there, while seaside destinations Brighton and Bournemouth were also in the top 10.

UK holidays have been given the go-ahead although only self-catered properties are currently open.

Single households can also only go on holiday right now, with group holidays and hotel stays able to resume from May 17.

And with a lack of certainty regarding holidays abroad – which is hoped to be from May 17 although this has not been confirmed, nor which countries this will include – UK holidays are booming again this year.

Campsites are seeing a huge surge in bookings with some even forced to open new sites at locations including stately homes and even racecourses to keep up with demand.
