The features Apple fans really want probably won't be coming to the iPhone 13

Apple has announced that it will hold its next big launch event on Tuesday, September 14 and rumours are rife that the new iPhone 13 will be shown to the world. The US tech firm is renowned for unveiling its shiny new devices in the autumn and, with an event now official, it seems almost certain that 2021 will be no different.

Although there’s no word on what upgrades will be coming to Apple’s new smartphone, fans have made up their own minds about what they’d like to see arriving on these latest call makers and it seems most aren’t bothered by big innovations – they simply want better battery life and lower prices.

That’s according to the latest research from USwitch who say a third of Apple fans (35 percent) hope the iPhone 13 boasts improved performance when it comes to how long a single charge lasts.

The same amount (34 percent) want it to be cheaper than last year’s models which is probably no surprise considering the top-end iPhone 12 Pro Max 512GB costs over £1,300.

Other things that came top of the wishlists include a model with 1TB of storage and a charger in the box.

Apple ditched the powerpack when it launched the iPhone 12 last year.

This decision was made in a bid to cut down on electronic waste and make the packaging smaller – both of which are better for the environment.

The firm says most people have endless chargers stuffed in drawers so why make more of them?

Although Apple is keen on this eco-friendly idea, it seems users aren’t sold on buying a phone without a plug in the box.

So Apple fans want much longer battery life, cheaper prices and a charger in the box but, sadly, it’s unlikely that any of these features will arrive on the new iPhone. Yes, the battery might get a small boost that will last a few extra hours and Apple might drop the price of the older iPhones. It’s certainly not going to bring back the charger though.

Here’s the full list of things USwitch says Apple addicts want to see on the new iPhone 13.

• Improved battery life • 35%

• Cheaper price • 34%

• A charger in the box • 27%

• An upgrade to the camera • 22%

• Faster processor • 22%

• Better screen resolution • 21%

• An edition with 1TB storage • 17%

•Easier to navigate • 16%

• More Apple original apps • 14%

• A different general design • 14%

Speaking about the research, Catherine Hiley, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “Apple has the most loyal fans of any smartphone brand, and it’s no surprise that millions of iPhone users will be queueing up to get the newest device as soon as it launches.

“Despite an expected upgrade in the iPhone’s already bulging camera department and improvements to the pin-sharp screen, it’s sobering to think that longer battery life is the feature that the majority of people are most interested in.

“Cost is a concern for many users, with a lot of people looking for cheaper devices after a year of lockdown, but there will always be buyers for the top-of-the-line devices, despite their £1,000-plus price tags.”
