AN award-winning campsite in the UK has been named the best of it’s kind in the country.

Ocean Pitch Campsite is found just two minutes from Croyde Beach in Cornwall.

Rated one of the best surfing beaches in the world, the campsite attracts a number of swimmers and surfing wanting to be a stone’s throw away.

The campsite has six-person tent pitches, which cost as little as £15 each per night.

Otherwise vans less than 6.5m are allowed, as are roof tents which have the “best views”.

You have to be quick though – booking tend to open on November for the next season, and the 35 pitches often sell out.

It reopens again on March 29, 2024 and stays open until the end of September.

Along with toilets and showers, guests can make the most of Biffen’s Kitchen which serves “surf-inspired food” including burgers and sides.

Outside of the camping season, his food truck is found at the Lobb Fields Campsite in Baunton.

Guests can even rent surfboards, body boards and SUP boards to take down to the beach.

Owners Benny and Lou run the site, along with their dog Reef.

Sadly you will have to leave the dogs at home, and large caravans and motorhomes are not allowed.

Previous guests have raved about the campsite, with it given hundreds of five stars.

One camper wrote: “No words can describe. There is nowhere else like Ocean Pitch.”

Another said: “We have come back every year for nearly a decade, and cannot fault Ocean Pitch.”

Others said it was the best location with highlights being “hearing the sound of the waves at night and being able to wander down to see the sunset”.

The UK is home to some great campsites, some of which are as little as £6.25pp a night.

Here’s another campsite people have raved about with “amazing views and wild swimming”.

One campsite in Cornwall, Pentewan Sands, even has it’s own private beach.

And we’ve rounded up some UK campsites – with a twist.
