Texfair sees new tech launches, to generate Rs 1,000-crore business – Times of India

COIMBATORE: Around 100 firms have launched new products, spares, automation and technologies at the ongoing international textile machinery, accessories and spares exhibition in the city, Texfair 2019.
K Selvaraju, secretary general, Southern India Mills Association (SIMA), said, “Many technologies focus on automation and Industry4.0. New features have been introduced in online quality monitoring systems, which exist today.” Technology for automation in processes such as bobbin transport and material handling in between machines were on display at the fair.
“Other areas of focus are energy conservation and value addition. At the Farm to Finish Expo section of the fair, exhibitors showcase new fibres with value-added properties,” he said.
Meanwhile, around 45,000 people visited the fair on Friday and Saturday. Representatives of SIMA said and they were expecting the footfall to go up to one lakh in the remaining two days. They said the first day had drawn 10,000 visitors and on Saturday there were around 35,000 visitors.
Selvaraju said the fair was open for everyone and it was a field for updating skill for technocrats and shop floor workers alike. “Other textile fairs such as that in Mumbai happen only once in four years. But as Texfair happens once in two years, people can come here and get updated with the latest technology.”
He said they expected the fair to generate a business of Rs 1,000 crore in terms of sales, booking orders and contract renewals.
The fair, which would go on till August 12 at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, has a total of 250 exhibitors from across India, Europe, Japan and China, spread across 320 stalls.
