Teenage prospect Tom Hill has signed a new contract at Liverpool, having made an impression in the youth ranks and appearing for the first team for the first time this season.

The 17-year-old only made his debut for the Under-18s last August, but has now also played for the Under-23s, in the UEFA Yout League and in the senior side, appearing in the Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Aston Villa.

An attacking midfielder, Liverpool#s official website describes him as a, ‘ tenacious player who works hard out of possession, Hill’s talent for timing late runs into key areas was crucial in building his goals and assists tally.’

The length of the contract has not been announced, but it is only six months since he signed his first professional deal with the club, with this being an extension of his stay at Anfield.

The Formby lad started in the 5-0 loss to Villa in December, but relished the experience nonetheless after fulfilling a dream held since joining the club since the age of five.

‘It meant everything. It’s everything I have been working hard for but I didn’t expect it to happen,’ he said at the time.

‘I was proud, my family were proud and it was just an amazing experience. I saw them after the game and it was the perfect Christmas present.

‘I don’t think the 5-0 scoreline was the true reflection of the game, we worked hard and I thought we deserved more from it.’
