Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.16% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 10:45AM (IST) on Tuesday in a weak market.

Bajaj Auto (up 0.53 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki (up 0.12 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Mahindra & Mahindra (down 2.78 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 2.53 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 2.41 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 1.84 per cent) and Tata Motors (down 1.78 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 1.16 per cent at 10191.55 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 144.7 points at 15607.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 441.95 points at 52111.45.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Ibull Real Estate, SAIL and Tata Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Albert David, Elgi Rubber Co, Steel City Securitie, Orient Abrasive and Laxmi Cotspin hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Walpar Nutritions Ltd., AKG Exim Ltd. and SKS Textiles hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
