State pension age: People can claim while working but they may be forced to retire – why?

When a person is ready to claim their state pension, they will be able to do so online, over the phone or through the post.

Claims can be made up to four months before reaching state pension age.

So long as a person has at least 35 years of qualifying National Insurance contributions, they will receive the full amount of £175.20 per week.

Regardless of what a person actually receives from their state pension, the amount will increase every year under triple lock rules.
