Somehow, Donald Trump’s dancing to YMCA has got even worse.
The President’s daily, largely mask free rallies, have lately ended the same way – with Trump dancing to Village People’s 1978 disco anthem.
But his moves are solidly rooted in the dad-dancing genre.
The President generally plants his feet solidly and unmovingly on the ground, bending alternate knees and punching the air with only a vague sense of rhythm.
He kind of looks like he’s pretending to be on a cross-trainer.
Occasionally, he leans from side to side from the waist.
As we say, this is a nightly – and sometimes twice nightly – event at this point in the campaign.
But tonight, at a rally in Pennsylvania, the President somehow managed to take a terrible thing and make it even worse.
It’s hard to put your finger on why tonight’s rendition of the dance was so terrible – though it unquestionably was.
Perhaps it was the weird, jerky start to proceedings, which made the President look like he’d suffered a short-circuit.
Or maybe it was the particularly glum expression on his face – a stark contrast to the joyful soundtrack.
Maybe he felt he had something to make up for. Just moments earlier, the President had essentially told the entire crowd that he would never have visited their town if he wasn’t trailing in the polls.
Whatever the reason, the President spent a few minutes doing a little dance to a beloved gay anthem, before getting on Air Force One.
And with just 14 days remaining in the campaign, he’s set the bar for his body-moving performance in Erie, Pennsylvania.
