Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is “hopeful” both Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be fit for their weekend clash at Southampton.
Both players were taken off as Manchester United saw off Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
The Red Devils cruised into a 3-0 lead which allowed them to take their foot of the gas.
Solskjaer chose to utilise his alloted five subs and insisted there was no need to risk further injuries.
“Hopefully they are ready for the weekend, but we’re not sure,” he said when asked for an update on the pair.
“Back problems for Victor and he had an ankle problem, Aaron.
“There was no point taking more chances and risk more swelling to it.”
Lindelof was withdrawn at half-time with Axel Tuanzebe coming on to partner Harry Maguire at centre-half.
Wan-Bissaka meanwhile made way for Brandon Williams on the hour mark.
Solskjaer though was pleased with his side’s efforts as they remained top of Group H with games to come against PSG and RB Leipzig.
He said: “I felt first half we saw the intent straight away, they wanted to play and they enjoyed it.
“It’s a Champions League night at Old Trafford, you’d expect them to enjoy themselves. We scored some very nice goals, I’m pleased.”
The Norwegian also opted to give starts to summer signings Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek.
Both have had to be patient but the United boss was happy with their contributions.
He added: “The two are getting used to how we want them to play – Donny can play in different positions and Edinson is a good old fashioned number nine.
“We haven’t had that for a while and I was happy with how Anthony [Martial] played off the left.”
