It’s hard enough to tick through your to-do lists while working from home. And as the holiday season approaches, and out-of-town guests and kids out of school start to invade home offices, it can feel even harder.
Instead of grinding through the next few work weeks, get out of the house and get your work done without any undue stress or distractions at a library, local café, or coffee shop. With unlimited caffeine, Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, delicious food choices, and people watching opportunities at every break, it’s the perfect way to wrap up your work year on a productive note.
Check everything off your to-do list before the holidays at one of these six places that will make you want to work from home every day.
The Beanery on Washington (Easton)
Hankering for a mid-afternoon pick me up? Look no farther than The Beanery on Washington, located at 181 Washington St., to satisfy your sweet tooth with award-winning donuts from Donut King. Coffee, tea, and breakfast sandwiches are also served up in retro-style, cozy atmosphere. “This shop has cozy seating around a fireplace, chairs and tables for the chatters, and coffee bar side seating to watch the baristas prepare the orders,” said one reviewer on Yelp. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Bridge Coffee House (West Bridgewater)
Get your work done while supporting a good cause, and your caffeine addiction, at The Bridge Coffee House, located at 239 West Center St. If the creative coffee drinks aren’t enough of an incentive (try the spiced fig latte), this local coffee shop donates their profits directly to a different local or international non-profit organization every month. Patrons also love the shop’s comfy atmosphere to get work done. “The decor is beautiful! It’s all remodeled and quite spacious. With high ceilings, wood paneling, and nice furniture, it feels like a living room in a high-end home,” one customer wrote on Yelp. The shop is open Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Brockton Public Library (Brockton)
The main branch of the Brockton Public Library, located at 304 Main St., is open Monday and Tuesday, noon to 9 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library offers a quiet, free space to work right in the heart of downtown Brockton, fit with computer stations, printers, private study rooms, and free parking in the White Avenue lot, located behind the building. There are also large and small conference rooms for rent for six to as many as 18 people on the library’s website.
Elvera’s Cafe (Brockton)
Elvera’s Cafe, located at 132 Main St., is open Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Brockton-native Sandra Elvera Martin serves up classic and specialty coffee and tea drinks, and hand-muddled red-bull energy drinks — perfect for a mid-day work slump. “The space is great for getting some work done for those who work remotely or those who work on the go. The place is great for people watching with its large windows and for just brainstorming with a warm cup of coffee,” wrote one reviewer on Yelp.
Restoration Coffee (Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Whitman)
A coffee-snob paradise, Restoration Coffee is open in three different locations in Bridgewater (23 Central Sq.), East Bridgewater (412 Bedford St.), and Whitman (564 Washington St.). A perfect place if you need to get up early to get work done, all three locations are open at 6 a.m. during the weekdays, and 7 a.m. on the weekends. Seasonal coffee drinks like the snickerdoodle latte, peppermint mocha, sugar cookie latte, and candy cane cold brew sweeten up workdays in December. “The inside space is adorable and comfy, even though it’s small. It’s a great place to get some work done or meet with friends,” one customer wrote on Yelp.
Wicked Loft Café (Whitman)
For a healthier menu, try working out of Wicked Loft Café, located at 7 Marble St. Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., this coffee shop serves a wide variety of coffee drinks, real-fruit smoothies, and acai bowls. “The ambiance is nice, quiet music playing, spacious inside, and plenty of seating,” one customer wrote on Yelp. “Really cozy and relaxing interior with your choice of tables, booths, or a couch,” wrote another.
