Shopmatic onboards one million merchants, clocks $400 mn in GMV

NEW DELHI: Marking a major milestone in its growth journey, international e-commerce enabler, Shopmatic, has successfully onboarded one million merchants on its platform. This coincides with the completion of Shopmatic’s sixth year of operations in India. The company is now planning to cross the five million merchants mark over the next three years with $3 billion GMV.

To counter the devastating impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, Shopmatic expanded its portfolio to include tailored solutions especially for kirana stores looking to create an online presence. With this, Shopmatic allowed local shop owners to build their web-stores easily without the need for technical or coding experience. In 2020, Shopmatic clocked $400 ml in GMV across 5 million transactions and is well on track to beat records by the close of 2021.

Over the past six years, Shopmatic has invested its energies in understanding the pain points faced by SMEs and entrepreneurs in India and emerging markets. Eyeing the need of the hour, the platform launched disruptive solutions to revolutionize e-commerce, along its journey. Today, Shopmatic allows merchants to choose from four different e-commerce solutions – chat selling, social selling, marketplace selling, or selling through web stores. An industry-first solution, this provides much-needed flexibility to merchants like chat sellers, social sellers, marketplace sellers, smbs and Individual entrepreneurs, to choose the solution that best suits their needs.

In a statement, Anurag Avula, Co-Founder & CEO, Shopmatic, said, “From helping merchants set up online ecommerce webstores to allowing them to choose different ways to do ecommerce and setting up solutions to digitize kirana stores to allowing merchants to onboard via a mobile app to fostering a large ecosystem of partners who have evinced faith in us, it is indeed a very proud moment for us.”
