Sheffield shooting victim named as local 30-year-old solicitor

A law firm has paid tribute to one of its solicitors named as the victim of a shooting in Sheffield over the weekend.

Alison Law Solicitors today announced the death of Khuram Javed, who had been with the firm for more than four years. He had joined as a paralegal but secured a training contract and had been a practising solicitor for 18 months.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed yesterday that officers had been called to reports of a man having been shot near Bramall Lane in the city on Saturday night. Javed, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sir Habib Rahman, chairman of Alison Law, said Javed, a father of two, had an ‘amazing dedication to the firm and to learning more’.

‘We are in complete shock at the tragic events that have taken place,’ he added. ‘Khuram was a beloved and hard working staff member with a bright future ahead of him. To all that knew him whether professionally or personally understood what an amazing, loyal and great man he was. We can’t begin to explain how much of a loss his passing will have on us.

‘Our hearts go out to his family and friends and especially to his wife and young children in this most difficult time. The Alison Law family are heartbroken at the loss of this young, talented and honourable man. We will miss him dearly.’

The firm has said its Sheffield office will be closed this week as a result of the incident.
