Romelu Lukaku's agent 'intervenes' over Chelsea transfer as Inter Milan saga takes twist

Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello is said to be pushing for his client to rejoin Chelsea, according to new developments from Italy. The Blues are now at the table for the Belgian striker after losing hope of landing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Lukaku has already reaffirmed his commitment to Inter Milan earlier this summer following the departure of Antonio Conte.

He spoke with new boss Simone Inzaghi who outlined his plans to build around the former Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United striker.

Yet Thomas Tuchel is a huge admirer of the 28-year-old and wants him to spearhead his attack at Stamford Bridge next season.

Fabrizio Romano reported last night that Chelsea were now offering £85million (€100m) plus Marcos Alonso for the player.

“He’s under contract with Inter. For this reason he is calm,” he said.

“[Lukaku] He is certainly happy to be here in Milan.”

Pastorello is said to have “an excellent” and “backdated” relationship with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.

Relations between Chelsea and Inter also remain strong having discussed a number of potential deals in recent times including the loan of Victor Moses and more recently, Archaf Hakimi.

It’s believed it will now be down to Lukaku to make any final decision over a move.

He has previously expressed his desire to stay put this summer but now Inter have received a proposal that is financially viable.

Alonso is a player they have wanted to sign for the past two seasons but a move is yet to materialise.

A substantial £85m fee would also go a long way into helping Inter clear their financial debt even after the departure of Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.
