Riverside County sees nearly 700 more coronavirus cases over weekend – Press-Enterprise

Riverside County added 693 confirmed coronavirus cases and 15 COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, but trends in recent weeks show fewer new cases, deaths and hospitalizations from the virus.

As of Monday, Sept. 14, the county had 55,766 cases, up 693 cases from Friday, Sept. 11. The county does not update its coronavirus numbers on weekends.

Countywide, 1,118 have died from COVID-19, up from 1,103 on Friday.

Riverside County has reported 2,857 new cases and 99 deaths between Sept. 1 and 14. Both are down from the previous two-week period, when 5,419 cases and 107 deaths were reported.

Hospitalizations are also down almost 50% over the past four weeks.

Also Monday, an inmate at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison outside Blythe died from what appears to be complications of COVID-19, state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said.

The inmate, who was not identified, is the third at Chuckawalla whose death is blamed on the virus.

Confirmed cases: 55,766, up from 55,073 Friday, Sept. 11

Deaths: 1,118, up from 1,103 Sunday, Sept. 13

Hospitalizations: 151 confirmed patients Sunday, down from 157 Saturday; 49 suspected patients Sunday, up from 43 Saturday, Sept. 12
