Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has tipped his former club to beat Villarreal in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to claim his first trophy as United boss when the Red Devils go up against Unai Emery’s side in Gdansk.

Emery, the former Arsenal manager, has experience of going all the way in the competition having won it three times in a row while in charge of Sevilla.

But Ferdinand is confident United have more than enough in attack to beat their opponents by a two-goal margin.

‘I think we win, I think they score but we’ve got too much firepower, we will hurt them. I think we win by two goals,’ Ferdinand told Vibe With FIVE.

One major injury concern for United is captain Harry Maguire, who hasn’t played since suffering an ankle injury on May 9.

Solskjaer has admitted that he doesn’t have high hopes over the defender featuring, and Ferdinand feels Axel Tuanzebe may get the nod to partner Victor Lindelof in defence.

‘Bailly played [against Wolves on Sunday] with Tuanzebe, if you’re looking at them, the two players, Tuanzebe was probably the better centre-back, he made a couple of crucial blocks in the game,’ he added.

‘If it was an audition for the Europa League final, I think Axel probably plays.

‘Will he go with the experience of a Bailly? He’s played in Spain that’s a big part of it. He understands their game, that experience may be something that is telling when the manager makes his selection.

‘I think we beat them, it’s not a foregone conclusion, they’re a decent team.’
