
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senate Republicans and the White House plan to seek a reduction in emergency federal weekly unemployment benefits from $600 (467 pounds) to $200 until states can handle a more complicated benefit formula, the Washington Post reported on Monday.
Democrats, who control the U.S. House of Representatives, have sought to keep the current federal benefit in place. Senate Republicans are expected to unveil their latest coronavirus relief plan later on Monday.
