The American Red Cross seeks nominations for its sixth annual Inland Empire Heroes Awards, to be presented in the spring.
The awards will recognize people for acts of courage or humanitarian service in eight categories.
The heroes must live or work in San Bernardino County or Riverside County or the acts of courage or humanitarian service must have occurred in one of those counties. The heroic act must be either an ongoing commitment to the community for more than one year or must have occurred in 2020, according to a news release.
Award categories are Animal Welfare Hero, for an animal or a person; Corporate Hero, for a business or organization; Disaster Services Hero, for a person or organization; First Responder Hero, for a professional or volunteer; Gift of Life Hero, for donating blood or platelets or inspiring others to donate; Good Samaritan Hero; Service to the Armed Forces Hero; and Youth Hero, for someone 18 or younger.
Nomination deadline is Nov 30. For details about each category and to download a nomination form or submit a nomination online, go to redcross.org/IEHeroes.
“Riverside and San Bernardino counties are home to many ordinary people with extraordinary courage,” Yevette Baysinger, executive director of the American Red Cross Serving San Bernardino County, said in the news release. “We hope that people will come forward to nominate deserving locals whose inspirational stories may otherwise go untold.”
