A pub company has added a dartboard to every refurbishment they carry out and now have a board in the majority of their 171 venues, all thanks to Luke Littler.

The Nuke became a huge star over the festive period as he produced a stunning run to the World Darts Championship final at Alexandra Palace.

The darts world knew all about the incredibly talented teenager, but the wider British public had no idea until he beat the likes of Rob Cross and Raymond van Barneveld to reach the final.

He was beaten by Luke Humphries in the showpiece but the world had already fallen in love with the teenager, who has since turned 17.

Littler’s success has clearly been brilliant for himself but also for the wider sport, as evidenced by Amber Taverns making it a policy to add a dartboard to every refurbishment they undertake.

Amber chief executive James Baer said the move was all thanks to Littler and the interest he has created.

Darts doesn’t sound the most glamorous or exciting thing, but, with the interest generated by Luke Littler, there had been a real take-up of darts,’ Baer said. ‘It’s another reason to come to the pub.’

Littler has proved to be a crossover star, appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show and signing a modelling deal with BooHooMAN.

PDC chairman Eddie Hearn said that the viewing figures during the World Championship matched Premier League football, at times, and darts is firmly in second place behind the behemoth on Sky.

‘We’re seeing our viewing figures, the one thing is darts is continuously disrespected really as a sport,’ he told Piers Morgan Uncensored.

‘The viewing figures are second only to Premier League football, and actually during the World Championship, they were on the same level as Premier League football.

‘No other sport, you go and look at the viewing figures for tennis and golf on Sky vs darts.’
