Premier François Legault posts Facebook message as curfew looms – Montreal Gazette

The controversial measure has been criticized by some but Legault wrote that the province needs “a collective effort, from everyone, for a month.”

The premier repeated that another reason behind the curfew is that “our hospitals are full with people sick with COVID-19” and that hundreds of people are in intensive care units. The situation, Legault wrote, is causing hospitals to push back treatments for diseases like cancer as well as operations.

“We are reaching the tipping point where we won’t be able to treat the most urgent cases. It could affect everyone, our loved ones as well as ourselves,” Legault wrote while also adding that the province is vaccinating “more and more people every day.”

Most of the people who posted replies to Legault’s message were supportive.
