Manchester United have been given the chance to sign Alex Telles for €20 million (£18.5m) after Porto lowered their asking price, according to reports in Portugal.

United have made the signing of Jadon Sancho their priority for the remainder of the transfer window but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also keen to add a new left-back to his squad.

United have been in talks to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, but negotiations hit a stumbling block earlier this week as the Spanish club demanded a buy-back clause.

Meanwhile, Porto are open to selling Alex Telles and reports in Portugal have claimed that the Brazilian’s representatives have already travelled to England for talks with United.

Porto had initially set a €30m (£27.7m) asking price for Alex Telles earlier this summer.

But according to A Bola, Porto are now wary of the 27-year-old being able to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer and are now willing to accept a €20m (£18.5m) transfer fee for the defender.

A Bola also report that Manchester United are the ‘main interested party’, however other clubs are also interested.

Alex Telles, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Wolves, scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 31 appearances for Porto last season.

When asked about further arrivals at United, Solskjaer said this week: ‘We’re always looking to improve the squad, scouting players and, if something fits, both the financial bit and the football bit, of course we’ll try to make some business.

‘But we can’t know how the markets and how other clubs have been affected either.’
