PIP claimants could be entitled to almost £15,000 under DWP rule change

During the assessment, the DWP considers an applicant’s ability to do a variety of tasks safely, within a reasonable amount of time and how their condition affects their ability.

One of the other considerations was how applicants engage with other people in face-to-face situations.

Currently, the Department for Work and Pensions is attempting to track down claimants that have been affected by a change in PIP law regarding the definition of social support that was introduced in April 2016.

If someone was noted as needing “prompting” by means of reminding, encouraging or explaining from a trained or experienced individual for social situations, this is now classed as “social support”.
