The DWP will then decide if you are eligible for PIP – including for how much and how long.
If you have a successful claim, the PIP you receive is subject to regular reviews.
The DWP will write to you when these are due and you will not be subject to random inspection.
Currently, many of these are being done on the phone due to the coronavirus crisis, but the Government has confirmed face-to-face assessments for PIP will be some of the first benefit assessments to be reinstated.
The Government website reads: “As measures are taken across the country to ease restrictions, the department will also gradually resume some review and reassessment activity which had been put on hold because of the coronavirus outbreak.
“We will shortly be restarting review and renewal activity in PIP and DLA, starting with those claims which were already underway when this activity was suspended.”
