Piers Morgan calls for Arsenal to sack Mikel Arteta as pressure mounts on Gunners boss

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Arteta said: “I feel the pressure all the time because I want to do as good as I can for the team, and for every support that I had here, and for our fans. Today is a big disappointment because we tried everything to be in the final.”

In his post-match press conference, Arteta added that he “wouldn’t be sitting here” if he did not think he could pick the players up after their elimination.

“You will see it,” he said. “It’s not about talking it’s about showing it on the pitch.”

Meanwhile, Villarreal boss Unai Emery was delighted to have led his side to the final, saying: “I am satisfied and proud. Satisfied with the job that we have done and proud of the project that we have here at Villarreal.
