Those who did not live in the UK during this time might still get the payment if both of the following apply:
- They lived in Switzerland or a European Economic Area (EEA)
- They have a genuine and sufficient link to the UK – which can include having lived or worked there, or having family in the UK.
However, Britons should also be aware certain countries are barred from the scheme – impacting expats.
People will not be able to get the payment if they live in Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Malta, Portugal or Spain.
