NVI Institute Blairsville will launch auto and diesel technology accelerated programs beginning Jan. 3.

Students will study for six months to become auto or diesel technicians.

The programs are designed to address a national shortage of skilled workers and help students position themselves for careers with major automotive, truck, and heavy equipment suppliers and dealers.

“A student in the program here at NVI is going to be put through the diesel or auto technology course in six months and be ready to hit the ground running,” Adam Duplin, diesel program coordinator, said. “In developing the school, we worked with teams of employers who told us exactly what they are looking for in a program.”

The programs are for people considering a career change, completing military service, not interested in a traditional college education, or are high school students, the institute said.

Licensed by the state of Pennsylvania, NVI Institute Blairsville is the largest U.S. campus dedicated to auto and diesel technology. It provides students with a full range of autos, trucks and diesel equipment.

Students are taught how to repair and rebuild the equipment with cutting-edge technology. They are also taught skills that will help them function in a workplace.
