Making sure you take care of the money you earn with side hustle is key to making the project a financial success. Chartered financial planner Makala Green gave Express.co.uk readers her advice.
A side hustle is a money-making pastime Britons can use to supplement their finances.
“Having a little side hustle is is so in right now, and rightfully,” Makala told Express.co.uk.
A side hustle could include making items and selling them on eBay, pet sitting or food delivery.
The expert went on: “Multiple income streams is becoming more of the norm now because people want to have that flexibility.
“If it’s your passion, then you don’t mind making that bit of extra time for it and making money at the same time.
However, Makala had a stern piece of advice for Britons who are looking to work on a side hustle or have one right now.
She said: “It’s always good to have extra money, but make sure you are making use of it.
“That extra money should go into paying off your debts, saving for an emergency fund.”
One woman made £35,000 with a surprising side hustle last year.
The money blogger has made shocking sums by entering competitions.
Di Coke said: “I’ve averaged about £13,000 of prizes a year since I first started comping 25 years ago, and usually win two holidays a year.
In 2021 she racked up £35,000 worth of winnings thanks to a huge prize from Brewdog worth £25,000 alone.
