NFL has solved it's quarterback problem – and current rookies might be best yet

The main thing the NFL was always worried about for the future was the quarterback position.

A few years ago, they had all these ageing quarterbacks. The big question was how would they replace Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and all those guys in that age range?

Now, we’ve got a group of young quarterbacks who are playing lights out. We’ve seen Kyler Murray step up in his second season to become elite, and the three rookies taken in the first round are all looking good.

They all have different skillsets, that’s what makes it so interesting. Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa are all great players and all different as well, and their franchises look to be in good hands.

Joe Burrow was selected first overall in the draft by the Bengals

If I had to pick one to build my franchise around I think it would still be Burrow, just because I like what he brings overall.

It’s hard to say that about Tua so far because his sample size is so small, but I really like what we’ve seen from Burrow since being the No.1 pick.

He’s got a tough game this weekend, and it’s going to be interesting to see if he can execute at a high level against a defence as strong as the Steelers.

We’re seeing him continue to grow and big games and challenges like this one are just part of that learning process.

Drew Brees beat Tom Brady last week but the days of their generation of QBs are coming to an end

I was high on the Bucs until they got dominated by the Saints last week. Sean Payton is an amazing playcaller, he always finds ways to move the ball and get Alvin Kamara involved.

The main thing with the Saints is their defence. They’ve always been good but given up big plays – if they can keep playing like they did against the Bucs then they’re the most dangerous team in the NFC right now.

They lost a close one last week, but the Arizona Cardinals look like a dark horse at the moment with the way Kyler Murray is playing.

They’re improving their defensive backfield and getting healthier at cornerback, and that’s going to be key for them.

Last year’s first overall pick, Kyler Murray, has kicked-on in his second season

Their offence is lighting it up. Kyler Murray is spectacular and there is still so much improvement they can make if their defence gets better.

They have a chance to really make a run if they can keep getting better as the year progresses.

One to watch – Kyler Murray (Cardinals)

He’s been electric and has some great playmakers around him. They’ve got a tough test against the Bills and need to get a win after losing a close one to Miami last week.
