Facebook just released an insightful report that highlights important stats regarding consumer behavioral changes during the pandemic. One thing that this report revealed is that streaming has become a lot more popular than it used to be. Over 40% of users in the UK, US, Brazil and Australia have reported that they have streamed a piece of content that they might not have watched had they not been stuck at home during some kind of a lockdown that prevented them from going outside.
The music industry has changed quite a bit too. However, it might have found somewhat of a saving grace in the streaming of live concerts. Over 50% of people from Brazil, the US and the UK say that they have live streamed a concert for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic. This creates an opportunity for content creators to tap a new market. This just goes to show that one market declining will inevitably result in the creation or propagation of another. The only thing that would stop the economy entirely is if no one was earning any money, after all. As long as people have money and free time, services would be able to thrive.
