OIL India Limited (OIL) stated all operational crew reached site early for carrying out the planned capping operation. BOP stack was hooked up with the Athey Wagon for placing on the well head. While the final capping operation was being attempted, the Athey Wagon toppled over at the last moment and the attempt did not succeed. Reasons for the same are being ascertained for next course of action.
The company added that well killing fluid is ready at site. All six numbers of High Discharge CMT Water Pumps are operational at site for spraying water to the well head during the operation. Total eight water pumps are available for filling both the water reservoirs periodically.
The gas producing well blew out on May 27. It exploded into a massive inferno on June 9.
OIL added that production still continues to be affected due to forceful closure of few Oil & Gas wells connected to Baghjan EPS. Drilling and workover operation still continue to be affected due to forceful closure of operation at few of the locations.
Due to stoppage/blockades of several producing wells, there was production loss of 652 MT of Crude Oil and 1.53 MMSCM of Natural Gas as reported on July 30. Cumulative production loss since 27th May, 2020 due to bandhs and blockades, 18852 MT Crude oil, 44.88 MMSCM of natural gas.
