LOWELL – A man was killed early this morning when he apparently lost control of his motor vehicle at the end of the Lowell Connector at its intersection with Gorham Street, an intersection known for numerous crashes dating back decades.
Police Supt. Kelly Richardson said the crash happened at about 7 a.m. Richardson said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but he doesn’t believe any other motor vehicles were involved.
The motor vehicle careened across Gorham Street and smashed into a stone wall on the eastern side of Gorham Street.
There have been numerous accidents at the site over the years. In recent years, state transportation officials improved signs and grooved the Lowell Connector to alert motorists that the roadway ended abruptly just a few hundred yards away.
This is a developing story.
