Mesut Ozil has hailed Arsenal’s on-loan defender Sead Kolasinac after Schalke ended their winless run on Saturday.

The Bundesliga club had gone 30 games without a victory before securing a 4-0 victory at home to Hoffenheim.

Kolasinac, who completed his return to Schalke last week, captained the team for his first game back as a hat-trick from Matthew Hoppe and a goal from Amine Harit sealed the win.

After the match, Ozil praised Kolasinac’s display as he posted on Twitter: ‘Yessss my brother!!! Ladies and gentlemen – The Kolasinac Effect! @seadk6 Maschiiiine!!!’

The win has lifted Schalke off the bottom of the Bundesliga and they are now four points adrift of safety.

Kolasinac is expected to play a key role in Schalke’s bid to avoid the drop this season and the 27-year-old delivered an impressive performance in his first game back.

Before his loan move, the Bosnia-Herzegovina international had made just eight appearances under Mikel Arteta this season, with only one coming in the Premier League.

‘Sead needs to be playing regularly, so we have decided together that a move back to Germany with Schalke will benefit him at this moment,’ Arsenal’s technical director Edu said after Kolasinac’s departure.

‘We will be keeping in close contact with Sead, and wish him huge success for the remainder of the season with Schalke.’
