BRITS looking for a cheap, last minute holiday should book now thanks to a number of bargain late deals.
According to money expert Martin Lewis, prices have dipped even for trips during the peak summer holiday.
He explained how it is currently the “lates” booking period of the summer holidays, which is six to eight weeks before travelling.
This means that there are cheap late deals which can be found during this time, even though it is currently the peak season.
Bargain hunters should try a number of comparison websites such as Holiday Hypermarket for some great options when travelling as a family of four in August.
For example, you can save £380 per person on a seven-night holiday in Costa Dorado, costing just £293 per person including flights from Glasgow when travelling on August 23.
Other deals include seven nights in Tenerife for £298 per person when travelling on August 13 (saving £184 per person), or seven nights in Santorini on August 20 for £323 per person (saving £342 per person).
Martin also revealed other handy ways to get a cheap holiday during the summer.
He explained that flexibility could result in saving hundreds of pounds – a seven day holiday to Greece, for example, was £753 cheaper if choosing a different week during the busy summer month.
School holiday dates differ in England and Scotland which can make a difference to holiday prices.
Scottish students often return to school earlier than English students, with the holidays ending mid-August.
Therefore package holiday deals from Scotland could be much cheaper in the last few weeks of the month, which is useful for those living in the north of England.
It could even be cheaper to fly by a charter plane as opposed to a scheduled flight, according to Martin Lewis.
This is because scheduled flights often increase in price last minute, due to business travellers who need to fly able to pay more.
Spare seats on charter flights need to be filled so could be cheaper.
Charter flights are often found on comparison websites as part of cheap package deals.
Other cheap deals include holidays under £300 to Costa Brava next month, as well as trips to Turkey and Bulgari for under £330 per person.
Emma Coulthurst, from holiday comparison site TravelSupermarket, explained that a combination of Brexit concerns and good weather in the UK have contributed to the bargain breaks.
