The S&P BSE Sensex added 150 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 37,551, with IndusInd Bank, YES Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, and Sun Pharma being the top gainers. The broader Nifty50 index was hovering around 11,140 levels, up 54 points, or 0.5 per cent.
The Nifty sectoral indices, except two, were trading in the green. Both Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank indexes rose over 2 per cent each.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 90 points, or 0.67 per cent at 13,636, while the S&P BSE SmallCap grew 24 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 12,674.
88 companies, including Eicher Motors, Ashok Leyland, and Indian Oil Corporation, are scheduled to declare their June quarter results today.
