Marcus Rashford is one of a number of Manchester United stars reportedly trying to convince Paul Pogba to stay at the club with the imminent arrival of Raphael Varane.
The French defender is set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund last Friday.
Real Madrid have accepted a £35million bid for the centre-half with Varane agreeing a four-year deal, with an option of a fifth.
The signing should be made official when the 28-year-old passes his medical.
But one player who could be heading in the other direction is Paul Pogba after he rejected United’s contract extension.

The midfielder is looking to leave Old Trafford this summer with Paris Saint-Germain one of the teams interested in making a move for the restless player.
United could be forced into selling Pogba this summer so that he doesn’t walk for free in 12 months’ time.
But Rashford and co. are hoping that the pending arrival of Varane could persuade him to change his mind, according to The Sun.
The report states Rashford and his teammates are doing “everything” they can to convince him to stay and believe they would be losing a “key man” and a “leader” in the dressing room if he was to leave the club.
They’ll be hoping that the signing of Pogba’s compatriot Varane will lead to a change of heart. The pair won a World Cup together with France in 2018 and were both an integral part of the Euro 2020 squad this past summer.
At the same age, both players have climbed through the international ranks together as youngsters before becoming a mainstay in the Les Bleus side.
