Manchester United’s difficult start to the season continued today with a 1-1 draw against Southampton at St Mary’s.

Daniel James gave the Red Devils the lead in the first half with a sensational strike but Jannik Vestergaard’s towering header gave the Saints a precious point.

The Dane came round the back of Lindelof and held the Swede down to head past David De Gea.

Lindelof looked shaky in United’s opener against Chelsea and lost a crucial header for Jordan Ayew’s goal in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

With the likes of Axel Tuanzebe waiting in the wings, many United fans were calling for Lindelof to be dropped.
