Chloe Kelly’s treble helped Women’s FA Cup holders Manchester City overwhelm Aston Villa to reach round five.

Ellen White converted Lauren Hemp’s cross after a hooked opener from Kelly, who fired her second into the bottom corner to put City 3-0 up at half-time.

Janine Beckie added a fourth before Georgia Stanway netted with a low shot.

Beckie teed up Rose Lavelle to stroke in a sixth, Kelly bundled home the seventh and Sam Mewis smashed an eighth in off the post in stoppage time.

City have a potential Women’s Super League title decider with Chelsea on Wednesday, but boss Gareth Taylor named a strong side, with England forwards White and Kelly leading the line.

And the move paid off as the pair put the hosts in control by half-time, paving the way for City to better their 7-0 league win over Villa in January.

Kelly also saw an early deflected cross hit the bar and forced Villa goalkeeper Sian Rogers to parry her fierce left-footed shot before the break.

Taylor took off Hemp and Lucy Bronze at half-time, but their replacements Beckie and Stanway took the hosts further clear, and fellow substitute Lavelle made it six.

However, the day belonged to Kelly who deserved her bit of fortune for her hat-trick goal as Rogers parried a ball which rebounded in off the forward as City began their bid to lift the cup for a fourth time in five years in style.
