Man Utd transfer round-up: Old target tipped to finally sign, Alex Telles latest

Manchester United face a race to get deals over the line before next month’s transfer deadline.

The Red Devils have less than two weeks to do business with clubs across Europe as they continue to struggle in the transfer market.

Only Donny van de Beek has been added to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad – arguably in an area of the pitch that needed additions the least.

While the Jadon Sancho transfer saga has gone quiet, it is understood that he remains the club’s most important target going into the last week or so of the transfer window. However, attention may need to turn elsewhere soon with minimal progress made on a deal and Sancho seemingly happy with life at Borussia Dortmund.

Several other big names from across Europe’s top leagues have been linked with a move to Old Trafford but United’s hierarchy will need to act quickly if they are to get any of those deals over the line.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from Old Trafford.

United favourites to land Perisic

Perisic spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich

United are reportedly favourites to land Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic before the end of the transfer window.

The 31-year-old impressed on loan at Bayern Munich last season and is believed to be open to a new challenge this season.

According to Fussball Transfers, Old Trafford is the Croatia international’s most likely destination despite reported interest from other top European clubs.

While Perisic may not be United’s number one transfer target, his arrival to the club could provide healthy depth in attacking areas.

Manchester United are looking to plot their path back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

Rodriguez ‘admired’ United move before choosing Everton

James Rodriguez has impressed at Everton

New Everton signing James Rodriguez has revealed how he nearly moved to Old Trafford earlier in this transfer window.

The Colombia international has hit the ground running under Carlo Ancelotti but things could have been very different for the playmaker, as he told Rio Ferdinand’s podcast FIVE earlier this summer.

Rodriguez said: “I think there was some kind of talk there.

“My manager, Jorge Mendes, has a great relationship with the club.

“We always dreamed of getting in a big club and since I was a child I always admired Manchester United.

“I always saw those teams with Rio Ferdinand together with Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

“There were a lot of prodigious players and I wanted to get in there that year but it didn’t happen.

“I thought I had to play for a club that wasn’t so big.”

Telles ‘wants to leave’ Porto amid United interest

Alex Telles has 'signalled his determination' to completed a Man United transfer from Porto
Alex Telles remains on United’s radar

Transfer target Alex Telles reportedly wants to leave current club Porto amid interest from United.

That is according to the Daily Telegraph who claim that the left-back has indicated to the club that he wants to leave.

United have already been reported to have agreed terms with the 27-year-old having a £36.6million release clause.

The fact that he will be free to potential suitors from January means that United’s hierarchy could play hard ball with Porto officials.
