Man Utd transfer news as Upamecano race on despite Munich Bayern vow

Manchester United continue to be players in the January transfer window – although outgoings are more likely.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are top of the Premier League heading into their FA Cup clash with Liverpool this weekend, but the manager is still on the lookout for improvments.

There is still plenty of speculation around the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, while the race appears to be hotting up for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecani.

But it is unlikely any of those players will move before the summer.

Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones could be among those leaving United this month – while manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will also be fending off bids for some of his squad players.

Here is the latest transfer news on the Red Devils.

Dayot Upamecano said recently he does not who his next club will be

United still in Upamecano race despite Bayern vow

United are still believed to be in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano despite Bayern Munich’s declaration they will sign him in the summer.

The RB Leipzig centre-back is on the radar of several clubs, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City also said to be admirers.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on Thursday that Bayern will make their move for the 22-year-old once his £40m release clause becomes active this summer.

But there is no clear front runner in the race to sign the France international, according to Goal.

Last year, Upamecano said: “I am targeted by several clubs, I speak with clubs, but I have time. We will see what happens in the future.”

Van de Beek bids rejected

United are not entertaining bids for Donny van de Beek in the January window

United have reportedly rejected bids for Donny van de Beek this month.

Van de Beek has struggled to get on the pitch since his £40m switch from Ajax, having made just two Premier League starts.

His lack of action even led to Dutch media urging the 23-year-old to seek a move in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have received offers to take Van de Beek on loan, but have turned them all down, according to ESPN.

United are competing for silverware on three fronts so need options in the squad – and Van de Beek could be handed a chance against Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend.

It is believed that United will also reject any bids for defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams.

Winger set for La Liga loan

United winger Facundo Pellistri could be heading to Spain

United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to send Facundo Pellistri out on loan to a La Liga club.

The teenage winger joined the Red Devils from Penarol in his native Uruguay in October, and has so far only played for the under-23s.

United are keen for Pellistri to play first-team football, and according to journalist Jonathan Shrager the club are close to agreeing a deal that will see the 19-year-old head to Spain in the coming days.
