Man Utd put seven stars up for sale as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scrambles to raise funds

Manchester United look set to get rid of their deadwood as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to hold his United team to his needs.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane signed in what was an exceptional summer transfer window.

Ronaldo and Varane have brought an added confidence and experience to Old Trafford, and whilst Sancho hasn’t impressed as of yet, there is plenty of time on his hands to accustom to Mancunian life.

Yet with a burning need for a midfielder, Solskjaer refuses to rest upon his laurels just yet as he looks to spend more to compete for trophies.

That being said, the transfer budget at the Theatre of Dreams has been depleted massively with their £135million of spending on the aforementioned trio.

Forgotten defender Phil Jones is likely to make his way out, as is injury prone centre-back Eric Bailly – with the Ivorian being shunted down the pecking order following Varane’s arrival.

Elsewhere, striker Anthony Martial may be sold following Ronaldo’s arrival, alongside the sales of Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles.

It is apparent that Solskjaer wants a central midfielder after admitting what sort of midfield player his side needs.

“We want central midfielders who can play,” Solskjaer said to MUTV recently.

“Today’s football is about a good 6, 8 or 10.

“Back in the day you had proper midfielders, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Bryan Robson.

“You see players out there who can attack and defend and that’s what we look for, midfielders who are complete and we try to develop that in our midfield.”
