The deadline-day loan signing from Shanghai Shenhua was among seven changes to the side that drew in the round-of-32 first leg in Belgium last week.

Scott McTominay made his first start since sustaining a knee injury on Boxing Day, while Anthony Martial was conspicuous by his absence from the squad.

Manchester United XI: Romero, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Bailly, Shaw Fred, McTominay, Fernandes, James, Mata, Ighalo.

Subs: De Gea, Lindelof, Matic, Lingard, Martial, Greenwood, Chong.

Club Brugge XI: Mignolet, Kossounou, Okereke, Deli, Ricca, Vanaken, Rits, Tau, Mechele, C Mata, De Cuyper.

Subs: Horvath, Sobol, Krmencik, Diatta, Mitrovic, Schrijvers, De Ketelaere.

Emil Forsberg offered

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign RB Leipzig’s wantaway attacker Emil Forsberg this summer.

However, head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may struggle to fit the Swedish international in his squad.

According to SportBild, Forsberg has grown frustrated with the limited opportunities he is being offered by Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann.

A minimal fee of £17million (€20m) is all that would be required, which is short change to Premier League clubs.

Fabian Ruiz bid

Real Madrid are ready to beat Barcelona to the signing of Napoli star Fabian Ruiz.

The two La Liga giants, along with Manchester United, are known to be interested in the Spanish midfielder.

But Zinedine Zidane wants to act quickly to secure his signature.

Italian publication Calciomercato claim Real Madrid will submit a £59million offer for the 23-year-old, whose price-tag is expected to increase during Euro 2020.

Becks transfer plans

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are potential targets for Inter-Miami, co-owner David Beckham said, underscoring his team’s global ambition as they prepare to make their long-awaited MLS debut this weekend.

Seven years after a tortuous process began, Beckham’s “project” will finally take the field on Sunday when Inter-Miami travel to Los Angeles to face LAFC in their first MLS regular season game.

More than 13 years since he shocked the soccer world by turning his back on Real Madrid to sign with the Los Angeles Galaxy, Beckham remains the biggest name in Major League Soccer.

But maybe not for long, the former England and Manchester United captain hinting his club might take a page from the Galaxy playbook he helped write and go out and sign the game’s biggest stars.

“Every team in the world would want Messi and Ronaldo in their teams. But we always talked about us being different from any other team, which I am sure every other owner says exactly the same thing,” Beckham told Reuters.

Anthony Martial’s first-half strike gave United a valuable away goal and the edge in the last 32 tie ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford.

Bruges took the lead in the 15th minute, a mistake from United keeper Sergio Romero allowing Dennis to lob him for the opener.

But Martial got United back on level terms in the 36th minute with his 14th goal of the season, giving Solskjaer’s side the upper hand.
