The Port Arthur Police Department confirmed officers received a welfare call around 3:30 p.m. for a man who was “slumped over in a vehicle” in the 3800 Block of Normandy. Officers discovered the man dead inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound.

“The victim’s name will not be released until the next-of-kin has been notified,” a PAPD news release said shortly after 7:30 p.m. “This incident is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Port Arthur Police Department. If you have any information about this murder, please contact the Port Arthur Police Department.”

Justice of the Peace, Marc Derouen, responded to the scene and has ordered an autopsy, PAPD said.
